About The Position

Dimensional’s Technology Department uses evolving technologies to develop scalable, innovative, research-driven solutions for clients. Software engineers design and develop solutions across areas including Research and Investments, Sales, and Marketing, collaborating to build and iterate on MVPs with feedback from users. The Back-End Software Engineer will translate customer goals into working software, including automated configurations, model definitions, and calculation APIs. The role involves understanding user needs and addressing challenges such as complex calculation engines in ETL pipelines, database design, and API and microservice engineering. The successful candidate is self-motivated and committed to learning and self-improvement. The role is not eligible for immigration sponsorship. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
At least 6 years of software development experience in a professional and/or academic setting.
Experience with Python, Ruby, JavaScript, or equivalent dynamic languages.
Experience with C#, Java, C/C++, TypeScript, or equivalent static languages.
Experience in at least one of data engineering, web/mobile application development, or systems/security software development.
Open-minded, curious, and resourceful approach.
Passion for modern technologies and systematic, transparent problem-solving.
Ability to share ideas, seek and integrate feedback, and collaborate on design and problem-solving.
Software engineering approach with automation and security mindsets.
Self-motivation and a strong drive for learning and self-improvement.

Nice To Haves

Interest and ability to learn other coding languages as needed.
Fluent, idiomatic English writing ability.
Advanced degree or equivalent experience in engineering, computer science, or another technical field.
Experience with agile/Scrum methodologies.
Financial services industry experience.
Experience with Redis, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or SQL Server.
Experience with Airflow, Kafka, AWS, or serverless/microservice architecture.
Experience with TDD, BDD, NumPy/SciPy/Pandas, React, Angular, Vue.js, Node, or Ansible.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with subject matter experts in a variety of areas to drive client success.

Perform software and data architecture and design.
Develop complex software solutions using back-end technologies.
Demonstrate and mentor software engineering best practices and participate in code reviews.
Develop configurations and automations to enable testing, infrastructure, and deployments.
Understand users’ needs and solve problems involving calculation engines in ETL pipelines, database design, APIs, and microservices.
