About The Position

This role involves providing crew leadership, ensuring safety and operational standards are met. The Lead will inspire by their actions, demonstrating Safe Work Practices, Fast Response, and documenting/communicating ideas and resolutions. The position requires reporting at least 15 minutes before shift start for handoff and crew setup. The Lead will assist and fill in for the Production Supervisor, including running the crew when necessary. They will relay priorities and projects to the Production Supervisor and advise plant employees on tasks. Responsibilities also include assisting with changeovers, determining schedule adjustments for equipment needs, analyzing and resolving mechanical or operational troubles, making corrections and adjustments for production and quality, operating, repairing, cleaning, and lubricating equipment, clearing jams, and checking materials. The Lead will assist the supervisor with Preventative Maintenance (PM) completion and perform maintenance work orders. Reading schematics, prints, and interpreting manuals is required. Partnering with the Production Supervisor for QAS review, HFI containment, and structured problem-solving is also part of the role. Assisting line employees and maintainers with changeovers, breaks, and equipment breakdowns is expected. The Lead will check, test, and measure product for quality, examine for visual defects, analyze spoilage, and record production delays. They will notify the supervisor of recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective actions, and of any poor-quality materials. The Lead will operate equipment and assist production as directed, and perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

  • Ability to navigate computer-based programs
  • Familiar with PPE, material safety data sheets, and proper handling of chemicals/solvents
  • Willing and able to work overtime and night shifts
  • Willingness to participate in continued professional development
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required

Responsibilities

  • Reporting at least 15 minutes before shift start to help with shift handoff and crew set up for the day.
  • Assisting and filling in for Production Supervisor, including running crew when necessary.
  • Relaying priorities and projects to the Production Supervisor and advising plant employees on tasks.
  • Assisting with changeovers.
  • Determining if schedule can be adjusted or permits time for overhaul, repair, or readjustments required by equipment.
  • Checking machines, analyzing mechanical or operational troubles, and planning/taking corrective action.
  • Making necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality.
  • Operating, repairing, cleaning, and lubricating equipment as required to maintain production.
  • Clearing jams and checking on strapping and related materials.
  • Assisting supervisor with Preventative Maintenance (PM) completion (daily, weekly, monthly).
  • Writing and performing maintenance work orders as required.
  • Reading schematics, prints, and exploded views of machinery and equipment.
  • Interpreting and following procedural manuals, manufacturer’s guides, and operation instructions.
  • Partnering with Production Supervisor for QAS review, HFI containment and structured problem solving.
  • Assisting line employees and maintainers with changeovers, breaks, equipment break downs, etc.
  • Checking, testing, and measuring product for quality specifications.
  • Examining for visual defects.
  • Analyzing spoilage as to cause and taking corrective action.
  • Analyzing and recording comments regarding the cause of production delays on production report.
  • Conducting 10k audits, as needed.
  • Notifying supervisor of any incidences of recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective action taken.
  • Notifying supervisor of any poor-quality material or supplies noted.
  • Operating equipment and assisting production, as directed.
  • Performing other duties, as assigned by Supervisor.
