About The Position

Acro Commerce is looking for a Back End Developer to build, integrate, and maintain high-quality commerce solutions for our clients. The ideal candidate codes proficiently, communicates effectively with team members and clients, has experience shipping and debugging projects, and is adaptable to new technologies. They should also possess a low ego and high skill level, knowing when to ask for help and being able to reflect on challenges and learnings.

Requirements

  • Solid hands-on back-end development experience, with work samples you can share.
  • Experience with .NET / C# is a strong asset.
  • Experience with some of what we work with day-to-day: PHP, Drupal, JavaScript, TypeScript, NodeJS, React, NextJS, Shopify, WordPress, AWS, Docker, Lando, Kubernetes, Acumatica.
  • Comfort in a Linux shell for day-to-day tasks, plus some understanding of Linux hosting.
  • Source control experience (Git, GitHub, etc.).
  • An excellent internet connection and hardware that can survive an hour-long conference call.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Ability to show something you've built that you're proud of.

Nice To Haves

  • Bonus points if you've set up your own server.
  • If you're a badass Lisp hacker type, mention that too.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain systems that help manufacturers, distributors, and brands sell online.
  • Write high-quality, maintainable code that follows Acro Commerce standards and production processes.
  • Build new features, integrations, and full builds, as well as updates and revisions to existing sites.
  • Juggle multiple smaller tasks or larger builds with shifting priorities, and still hit deadlines.
  • Find and fix problems in code that might not be yours, where the only hint is a cryptic complaint from a client.
  • Provide accurate estimates for defects, builds, and new functionality, and stick to them.
  • Deliver efficient, practical solutions to work requests, issues, and defects.
  • Communicate clearly with Project Managers, Tech Leads, and clients about work requests, problems, and defects.
  • Act as a peer and mentor to other developers, while being comfortable asking for help yourself.
  • Pick up new languages and platforms as client work demands it.

Benefits

  • A team you'll actually like.
  • Occasional virtual happy hour, team competition, or reward for no particular reason.
  • Ownership and impact.
  • Compensation package tailored to your location, experience, and fit with values, with hourly rates starting between $40 and $60 CAD.
  • Autonomy over your schedule.
  • Flexible start times.
  • Earned days off.
  • Real remote work.
  • Option to work from home office or Kelowna HQ.
  • Professional development opportunities.
  • 30-day no-questions-asked money-back guarantee.
