About The Position

The IISD Employee Childcare (Baby University) Site Manager is responsible for assisting the Childcare Administrator with planning, organizing, implementing, coordinating, and controlling the services of the childcare program. Under general supervision, the assistant administrator operates the childcare program to conform with institutional regulations and state daycare licensing provisions. Responsibilities include assisting in the overall management of the center’s early childhood program.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree with 12 hours of child development required (Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field preferred) and one year of experience in a licensed child-care center or one year of teaching an early childhood grade.
OR, have a Director Administrator Credential issued by a professional organization or educational institution and approved by Licensing with at least two years of experience in a licensed child-care center.
Three hours of college credit in management is required.
Must be able to be certified as a Director of a Childcare Center per the Texas Department of Health and Human Services (TDHHS) Child Care Regulations Standard 746.1015
Must be willing and able to work in any classroom as needed to meet the program's needs.
Must maintain at least 30 hours of training each year.

Responsibilities

Maintain, at all times, high-quality child care standards based on developmentally appropriate practices.
Supervise all staff members of the childcare center, including substitute staff. Supervision includes but is not limited to: knowing what the employees are doing for the day, ensuring employees fulfill their assignments and responsibilities assigned for the day, ensuring employees have assignments that match their skills, abilities, and training, and ensuring that all staff are complying with minimum licensing standards.
Ensure that caregivers are not regularly scheduled for more than ten hours of direct child care during a 24-hour period.
Ensure that child-to-adult ratios are maintained each day to meet minimum standards.
Assist with overseeing the hiring process and orientation for all new staff.
Assist with providing accurate and meaningful annual performance evaluations for all childcare staff.
Assist with developing a budget for the center and establishing controls to ensure that the center adheres to the budget.
Ensure that the program is cost-effective and funds are managed prudently.
Assist with overseeing the day-to-day functions of the childcare center, managing staff, and ensuring that the daily operations are administered in compliance with the childcare licensing standards specified by TDHHS.
Assist with developing and implementing policies and procedures for the operation of the childcare center.
Assure consistent compliance with all Texas DHHS Child-Care Regulations Minimum Standards, including maintenance of annual fire, health, and other inspections.
Assists with coordinating the annual licensing of the childcare center with TDHHS Child-Care Regulations.
Assists with overseeing the maintenance of files according to TDHHS Child-Care Regulations requirements.
Accurately maintain and update files, manuals, handbooks, and logs as assigned.
Maintain open, consistent and effective communication with parents, providing parent education training, assistance and support as needed.
Provide reliable, accurate and timely information about the childcare center to interested parties.
Follow all rules, regulations, and policies of Irving ISD and TDHHS Child-Care Regulations along with directives of the supervisor.
Assist in other projects assigned by the supervisor.
Perform other functions that may be assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or designee.
Attend professional development seminars and trainings to maintain understanding of current best practices of curriculum and administrative functions of child development programs required by TDHHS Child-Care Regulations.
Attain and maintain membership in National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and stay current on articles in their publications.
Assist with overseeing, documenting, and coordinating the training and professional development of all child care staff including self.
Assist with registration in the child care program and provide parent and staff orientation.
Articulate the center’s mission to employees and other stakeholders and solicit support in realizing the mission.
Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.
Represent the center in a professional, courteous, and positive manner at all times.
Promote a positive, caring climate for learning for staff, students, and parents.
Deal sensitively and fairly with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Communicate effectively with staff, students, and their families.
Perform any and all duties as assigned.
Successfully advances district initiatives.
Assume significant leadership in assisting with the annual evaluation of staff at the childcare center.
