About The Position

The B Technician functions as a skilled-level professional capable of diagnosing and repairing a wide range of vehicle systems, specifically supporting our Hyundai line. This role requires efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with dealership and factory standards. B Technicians play a critical role in delivering safe, high-quality repairs while supporting the service department's goals for customer satisfaction and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Must maintain valid driver's license that meets dealership insurability requirements.
  • Must obtain and maintain all required certifications, licenses, and registrations.
  • Automatic Transmission/Transaxle (Auto/Light Truck) Certification
  • Engine Performance (Auto/Light Truck) Certification
  • Heating & Air Conditioning (Auto/Light Truck) Certification
  • Manual Drive Train & Axles (Auto/Light Truck) Certification
  • Brakes (Medium/Heavy Truck) Certification
  • Electric Diesel Engine Diagnosis Certification
  • Light Vehicles - Compressed Natural Gas (Alternate Fuels) Certification
  • Suspension & Steering (Auto/Light Truck) Certification
  • Brakes (Auto/Light Truck) Certification
  • Electrical/Electronic Systems (Auto/Light Truck) Certification
  • Stand and/or sit for up to 8 hours per shift.
  • Lift up to forty pounds without restrictions.
  • Enter and exit vehicles without difficulty.
  • Perform visual and manual inspections to determine safety or repair needs.
  • Ability to perform accurate diagnostics and repairs across multiple vehicle systems.
  • Ensure work is completed to factory and dealership standards.
  • Dedicated to providing safe, reliable service for guests.
  • Collaborates effectively with advisors, parts staff, and fellow technicians.
  • Commitment to training and staying current with manufacturer updates.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Perform repair and maintenance work as outlined on repair orders with high efficiency and accuracy.
  • Diagnose vehicle malfunctions (mechanical, electrical, and HVAC) and perform necessary repairs.
  • Communicate effectively with the parts department to secure required components promptly.
  • Complete comprehensive VIDEO multi-point inspections (360 Inspections) to identify potential safety or service needs.
  • Conduct road tests when required to verify repairs or assist test technicians.
  • Save and tag warranty parts or customer-requested parts appropriately.
  • Document all work performed and recommendations clearly on repair orders.
  • Notify service advisors immediately of additional work needed, work not required, or potential delays in completion.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of customer vehicles and report any changes in vehicle condition.
  • Report machinery defects or shop equipment malfunctions to management.
  • Follow all federal, state, and local regulations, including hazardous waste management and OSHA compliance.
  • Participate actively in Hyundai manufacturer-sponsored training and certification events.
  • Stay current with factory technical bulletins and service campaigns.
  • Supervise and mentor apprentice or C-level technicians as assigned.
  • Keep personal and shared shop areas clean, organized, and safe.
  • Maintain and return dealership-owned specialty tools and manuals in proper condition.

Benefits

  • Base Pay Rate: $34.00+ per hour (Final flat-rate hourly offer is commensurate with experience, skill level, and ASE Certifications).
  • $36.00/hr with 3 years of experience.
  • $38.00/hr with 5 years of experience and a Hyundai or Kia B-level certification.
  • Flat Rate Pay Structure: Paid based on each job completed and closed.
  • Bi-Weekly Production Bonus: Earn an additional dollar-amount per hour added to your flat rate based on the total hours turned in a 2-week pay period.
  • Additional Warranty Production Bonus: B-Level Technicians qualify for an additional $3.00 per hour bonus once they produce 50 or more hours of warranty flag time in a month.
  • Paid out on the 15th of the following month.
  • 5-day work week (Includes some rotating Saturdays no nights).
