Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the B-Plate Operator is key in assisting with meeting the department’s goals by performing machine set-up, maintaining quality standards, meeting daily production targets, and troubleshooting equipment when required.

Requirements

  • At least 1+ years of previous manufacturing experience required
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Experience in use of micrometers and other precision measurement tools.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret reports, manuals, technical procedures

Nice To Haves

  • Technical training is preferred but not required
  • Experience in a metals industrial setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coil handling which involves removing coils from skids, loading coils to the payoff, and measuring gauge and width of the material with measuring devices.
  • Set up the designated B-Plate Mill by interpreting process sheets, setting machine parameters, and using lubrication.
  • Adjust and correct machine set-ups to reduce thicknesses, reshape products, and eliminate product defects.
  • Examine, inspect, and measure raw materials and finished products to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Read production orders, blueprints, and mill schedule to determine setup specifications, work sequences, product dimensions, and installation procedures.
  • Control and observe dial indicators in order to monitor, adjust and regulate speeds of machine mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with Scheduling & Maintenance departments regarding production issues.
  • May work collaboratively with an assigned helper.
  • Performs data entry into the SAP software system.
