About The Position

Genesis10 is seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to join the Platform team that manages the Data Science platform. This is a 3-month contract-to-hire opportunity located in Columbus, OH; Atlanta, GA; Pittsburgh, PA; Chicago, IL; or Dallas, TX. The role is hybrid and offers a compensation of $52.00 - $56.00 per hour, W2, based on qualifications. The engineer will be responsible for supporting ongoing Data Science Infrastructure operations, developing and deploying AWS environments using CI/CD processes, and managing large-scale environments to meet the needs of current and future Data Science teams. The role also involves championing and maturing the environment by implementing and overseeing the image management lifecycle process, assisting in setting up and managing AWS accounts specifically for the Data Science platform, and providing hands-on development using CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps. Additionally, the engineer will utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, develop scripts and applications using programming languages such as Python, manage database technologies including Athena, Oracle, MySQL, and Postgres, and leverage AWS services essential for Data Lake, Data Science, and AI/ML teams. The position requires handling and resolving requests from development and business users, managing secured infrastructure, enforcing security measures, applying necessary guardrails, resolving infrastructure vulnerabilities within SLAs, and maintaining audit logs. System upgrades, patching, on-call support, root cause analysis, and knowledge transfer sessions are also part of the responsibilities. Collaboration with Network, Database, Infrastructure, and Architecture teams is essential to align on projects and strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in Data Science Infrastructure
  • 2+ years of extensive experience with Data Lake, Data Science, and AI/ML services hosted on AWS infrastructure
  • 2+ years working knowledge of Kubernetes
  • 2+ years working knowledge of AWS services such as SageMaker, Glue, Lambda, Athena
  • 2+ years working knowledge of CI/CD tools like Azure DevOps
  • 2+ years working knowledge of IaC tools like Terraform
  • 2+ years working knowledge of Docker and ECR (Elastic Container Registry)
  • 2+ years working knowledge of Security tools like AQUA and Kenna
  • 2+ years of experience in technical write-ups

Nice To Haves

  • AWS and Terraform certified professionals
  • Kubernetes or CKA
  • Familiarity with technical service management and product life cycle maintenance
  • Knowledge of programming and scripting languages such as Python and shell scripting
  • In-depth knowledge of database technologies like Athena, Oracle, MySQL

Responsibilities

  • Support ongoing Data Science Infrastructure operations

  • Collaborate with Network, Database, Infrastructure, and Architecture teams to align on projects and strategies
