This role involves automating the provisioning and lifecycle management of AWS services, including identity, compute, storage, backups, networking, logging, and monitoring, using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform. The engineer will deploy, configure, harden, and maintain infrastructure across AWS and hybrid environments, adhering to secure baseline standards. A key responsibility is to standardize reusable IaC modules, promote best practices, and enhance environment consistency across development, testing, and production. The role also includes building and improving CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps workflows using tools such as Git, Terraform, Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline, and Docker. Troubleshooting infrastructure and automation issues to ensure reliability, performance, and mission continuity is crucial. The engineer will implement operational visibility through logging, monitoring improvements, and actionable dashboards. Applying cybersecurity best practices, supporting zero-trust and compliance-aligned infrastructure operations (e.g., NIST, CIS, ISO 27000), and collaborating with security and networking teams for secure configurations, change controls, and audit-ready processes are essential. Support for business continuity and disaster recovery (DR) requirements and operational readiness is also expected. The role requires close collaboration with engineering, security, networking, and application teams to meet mission needs and delivery timelines, and partnering with data engineers and scientists to support infrastructure for data pipelines and machine learning workflows. Maintaining high-quality engineering documentation, including SOPs, system diagrams, and secure configuration baselines, is a requirement. The engineer will also summarize and present findings and recommendations, both written and verbal, to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
