About The Position

We are seeking an experienced AWS Data Engineer to join our team in Plano, TX. This is a hybrid role where you will leverage your expertise in AWS cloud technologies, data engineering, and software development to build and maintain robust data solutions. You will be instrumental in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment, ensuring the security and efficiency of our data platforms. This role requires a strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle and agile methodologies.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience.
  • Experience with AWS cloud technologies, including S3.
  • Experience with SQL-based technologies (e.g., MySQL/ Oracle DB).
  • Proficient in coding in one or more languages: Java or Python.
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages.
  • Cloud implementation experience with AWS including: AWS Data Services (Lake formation, Glue ETL (or) EMR, S3, Glue Catalog, Athena, Kinesis (or) MSK, Airflow (or) Lambda + Step Functions + Event Bridge).
  • Data De/Serialization expertise in at least 2 of the formats: Parquet, Iceberg, AVRO, JSON-LD.
  • AWS Data Security understanding (Lake formation, IAM, Service roles, Encryption, KMS, Secrets Manager).
  • Experience with statistical data analysis and ability to determine appropriate tools and data patterns to perform analysis.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.).
  • Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods.
  • Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Applicant Resiliency, and Security.

Nice To Haves

  • Snowflake knowledge or experience preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems.
  • Experience with building Data lakes, Data platforms, Data frameworks, and Data as a Service APIs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, debug, and maintain code in a large corporate environment using modern programming languages and database querying languages.
  • Implement and manage AWS data services including Lake Formation, Glue ETL, EMR, S3, Glue Catalog, Athena, Kinesis/MSK, and Airflow/Lambda + Step Functions + Event Bridge.
  • Work with data serialization formats such as Parquet, Iceberg, AVRO, and JSON-LD.
  • Implement and manage AWS data security concepts including Lake Formation, IAM, Service roles, Encryption, KMS, and Secrets Manager.
  • Perform statistical data analysis and determine appropriate tools and data patterns for analysis.
  • Apply knowledge of software applications and technical processes within cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or mobile domains.
  • Utilize automation and continuous delivery methods.
  • Participate in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Adhere to agile methodologies including CI/CD, Applicant Resiliency, and Security.
