AWS Data Engineer
About The Position
We have a Contract role for an AWS Data Engineer in Bellevue, WA. This position involves assessing existing AWS processes, workflows, integrations, schedules, and dependencies. The engineer will partner with business and technical stakeholders to understand operational objectives, pain points, and future-state requirements, translating these into technical orchestration and architecture requirements. The role includes designing and recommending approaches for improving orchestration across complex AWS environments, identifying opportunities to simplify dependencies, improve concurrency, reduce processing times, and increase reliability. Responsibilities also include developing and maintaining cloud-based data pipelines and automated workflows, designing appropriate monitoring, alerting, error handling, retry, and recovery capabilities, and evaluating existing technical designs to recommend improvements based on business value, complexity, cost, scalability, and risk. The engineer will work collaboratively with various teams, support teammates, share expertise, and contribute to technical discussions. Creating clear technical documentation and architecture recommendations, and communicating complex concepts to stakeholders are also key aspects of this role.

- Translate those objectives into technical orchestration and architecture requirements
- Design and recommend approaches for improving orchestration across complex AWS environments
- Identify opportunities to simplify dependencies, improve concurrency, reduce processing times, and increase reliability
- Develop and maintain cloud-based data pipelines and automated workflows
- Design appropriate monitoring, alerting, error handling, retry, and recovery capabilities
- Evaluate existing technical designs and recommend improvements based on business value, complexity, cost, scalability, and risk
- Work collaboratively with engineers, architects, application teams, infrastructure teams, and business partners
- Support teammates, share expertise, and contribute constructively to technical discussions and problem-solving
- Create clear technical documentation and architecture recommendations
- Communicate complex architecture and orchestration concepts clearly to business stakeholders and senior leadership
- Process Flows
- Mentor and Knowledge transfer to client project team members
- Participate as primary, co and/or contributing author on any and all project deliverables associated with their assigned areas of responsibility
- Participate in data conversion and data maintenance
- Provide best practice and industry specific solutions
- Advise on and provide alternative (out of the box) solutions
- Provide thought leadership as well as hands on technical configuration/development as needed
- Participate as a team member of the functional team
- Perform other duties as assigned
