About The Position

The Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), a State of Arizona client, is seeking an AWS Cloud Engineer to support cloud infrastructure, automation, system administration, and operational reliability. The role involves building and maintaining AWS solutions and scalable, highly available, fault-tolerant cloud environments across IaaS and PaaS. The engineer will work with Windows and Linux servers, automation and Infrastructure as Code, cloud networking, security, monitoring, troubleshooting, cost optimization, and AI-assisted operations. The position is described as hybrid in Phoenix, Arizona, with flexible work-from-home options. The initial onsite requirement is on the first day, followed by onsite attendance once per quarter and as required for business needs; another note describes monthly in-office attendance, so the final schedule should be confirmed with the client. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional after-hours maintenance or operational changes. The initial contract is six months, with potential conversion to a permanent State employee based on performance and business needs. Arizona residency is required, or the candidate must be willing to relocate. Candidates must be eligible for permanent State employment; visa sponsorship is unavailable. An enterprise background investigation is required, including HireRight background checks and Global ID facial biometrics. During the contract phase, benefits are managed by the staffing agency. Upon conversion, employees may qualify for State of Arizona benefits, including health, dental, vision, and life insurance, as well as the ASRS Defined Benefit Pension Plan. The client is seeking candidates interested in a long-term public-service career.
