About The Position

We are seeking a motivated, hands-on AWS Cloud Systems Administrator who is eager to learn, grow, and contribute to a dynamic IT environment. This role is ideal for candidates with a strong foundation in AWS, networking, and Linux administration, including those who have developed their skills through personal projects, home labs, certifications, or academic experience. The successful candidate will assist in provisioning, configuring, administering, securing, and troubleshooting cloud and on-premises infrastructure with a primary focus on Amazon Web Services (AWS). We are looking for a self-starter who can take initiative, solve problems, and continuously expand their technical expertise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field and at least one year of relevant experience; OR
  • Associate degree in a related field and at least three years of relevant experience; OR
  • Five years of relevant professional experience.
  • AWS Fundamentals
  • Understanding of AWS core services, including: EC2, S3 (Object Storage), VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, Elastic Load Balancers, CloudFormation
  • Ability to build and configure a VPC from scratch.
  • Understanding of public and private subnets.
  • Experience deploying applications on EC2 instances.
  • Knowledge of networking and security concepts within AWS.
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of IP addressing, routing, subnets, DNS, and firewalls.
  • Understanding of security groups and network access controls.
  • Ability to troubleshoot connectivity and network performance issues.
  • Experience administering Linux systems.
  • Ability to create, manage, and troubleshoot files and services.
  • Knowledge of system updates, patching, permissions, and security.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • AWS Cloud Practitioner, Solutions Architect Associate, or related AWS certifications.
  • Experience deploying LAMP stack environments on EC2.
  • Experience using infrastructure-as-code tools.
  • Familiarity with vulnerability management tools such as Tenable.
  • Knowledge of backup and recovery procedures.
  • Experience supporting users in both onsite and remote environments.
  • Understanding of enterprise IT security policies and practices.
  • Experience testing and evaluating hardware, software, and network solutions.
  • Has a strong desire to learn and grow in cloud technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Build, configure, and manage AWS Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs).
  • Design and maintain public and private subnet architectures.
  • Deploy and manage AWS services including EC2, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, Load Balancers, and CloudFormation.
  • Configure and support multi-tier cloud environments.
  • Monitor cloud resources, performance metrics, and utilization.
  • Manage AWS account administration, security, provisioning, and lifecycle management.
  • Optimize cloud resources for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems.
  • Create, manage, and troubleshoot files, services, and system configurations.
  • Perform system patching, updates, and routine maintenance.
  • Diagnose and resolve operating system and application issues.
  • Support server hardening and security best practices.
  • Configure and maintain network infrastructure and cloud networking components.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity, routing, firewall, and DNS issues.
  • Assist with network design, implementation, and documentation.
  • Support secure remote access solutions, including bastion hosts and VPNs.
  • Create and manage user accounts, permissions, and security groups.
  • Apply the principle of least privilege across systems and cloud resources.
  • Perform kernel and security patching.
  • Identify and remediate vulnerabilities using tools such as Tenable.
  • Implement and maintain system hardening standards.
  • Monitor and improve security posture across cloud and infrastructure environments.
  • Maintain backup and recovery processes.
  • Verify backup integrity and recovery procedures.
  • Participate in disaster recovery exercises and security drills.
  • Support business continuity initiatives.
  • Automate infrastructure deployment and configuration using CloudFormation and other tools.
  • Improve consistency, security, and operational efficiency through automation.
  • Implement tagging strategies for governance, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Identify opportunities for process and performance improvements.
  • Maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and access-related issues.
  • Provide technical assistance to users and team members.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver reliable IT services.
  • Support training and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Maintain a customer-focused approach when delivering technical solutions.
