About The Position

As an Awake Overnight Counselor, you will provide direct support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a small group residential setting or an individual living arrangement. In this role, you will collaborate with the individuals served, their families, friends, employers, and other support staff to foster independence skills and enhance their quality of life. Vinfen, established in 1977, is a nonprofit health and human services organization that is a leading provider of community-based services for individuals with mental health conditions, intellectual and developmental disabilities, brain injuries, and behavioral health challenges. The organization's services and advocacy are dedicated to promoting the recovery, resiliency, habilitation, and self-determination of the people they serve.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Strong time management and writing skills
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have a current, valid, US drivers' license for at least 6 months
  • Ability to become CPR, First Aid certified within 2 weeks of employment
  • Ability to become MAP certified within 150 days of employment
  • Ability to successfully pass a CORI, reference, national fingerprinting and driving record check

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor's degree in a Human Services related field is preferred
  • Experience working with people with developmental disabilities and/or acquired brain injury strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a small group residential setting or an individual living arrangement
  • Work together with the people we serve, their families, friends, employers, and other support staff to transform their lives by either building independence skills or increasing each person's quality of life
  • Administer medication under the Medication Administration Plan (MAP)
  • Implement treatment plans
  • Assist people with activities of daily living
  • Perform nightly cleaning and filing
