Awake Overnight Direct Support Professional (DSP)
About The Position
Harry Meyering Center (HMC) supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes and communities. The Awake Overnight Direct Support Professional helps individuals feel safe, comfortable, and supported throughout the night by monitoring health and safety, responding to individual needs, and providing compassionate, person-centered care. The role also offers experience in the human services field. The schedule is typically 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM and includes every other weekend. Positions are available at multiple locations in North Mankato, Mankato, and Eagle Lake. Pay is $18.00 per hour, with an additional $1.00 per hour for direct care hours worked on awake overnight shifts. Paid training, competitive benefits, overtime opportunities, and flexible scheduling are offered.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must hold a valid United States driver's license and pass a driving record check conducted by the employer's insurance carrier, unless otherwise noted.
- Must pass the Minnesota Department of Human Services Background Study.
- Willingness to learn.
- Ability to complete daily direct care tasks such as bathing, toileting, feeding, and changing.
- Ability to perform household chores such as cooking, cleaning, and laundry.
Responsibilities
- Keep individuals safe and supported throughout the night.

- Provide personal care tasks when required, including bathing, toileting, feeding, and changing.
- Encourage individuals as they pursue what matters to them.
- Help individuals prepare for a positive start to the day.
- Advocate for individuals who rely on the support provided.
- Perform household chores such as cooking, cleaning, and laundry.
