About The Position
Alternatives, Inc. in South Bound Brook, NJ is looking to hire a full-time awake overnight Behavior Technician to support adults with developmental disabilities. We are seeking individuals who are passionate about the rights of individuals with developmental disabilities to live with dignity and respect. The role involves supporting clients in a residential group home setting, assisting them with daily living activities, implementing behavioral plans, teaching new skills, and encouraging community integration. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record
- Ability to pass criminal/registry background checks and a drug screen
- Clear tuberculosis (TB) screening
- Ability to pass and maintain required trainings such as CPR/first aid, medication administration, and positive behavioral support training
- Basic computer skills
- Compassionate nature
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations

- Experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living such as administering medication, cooking meals, performing personal hygiene, and transportation to medical appointments.
- Assist in the implementation of individual behavioral plans.
- Teach new skills and help clients achieve goals using effective teaching and mentoring techniques.
- Encourage client interests and drive them to community outings and recreational activities based on their preferences and behavioral plans.
- Report any concerns about client health and safety.
- Keep documentation accurate and up-to-date.
