About The Position

Eirion Risk Underwriters, a Beyond Risk Management Company, is seeking an AVP/VP, Inland Marine to support and grow a specialized MGA platform focused on inland marine risks. This role is designed for an experienced underwriter with technical Inland Marine expertise, balancing underwriting discipline, delegated authority stewardship, broker responsiveness, and portfolio profitability. Requirements

  • 7+ years Inland Marine insurance experience
  • Strong existing broker relationships within the wholesale brokerage community on national and regional levels
  • Strong underwriting acumen and attention to detail
  • Experience and proficiency in policy wording, broker manuscript forms review and policy issuance
  • Ability to collaborate and work within a team environment
  • Must be entrepreneurial and a self-starter
  • Excellent communication skills, including advanced negotiation, communications, and presentation experience
  • BA/BS degree

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite multiple inland marine products such as contractors’ equipment, builder’s risk, installation floaters and miscellaneous inland marine exposures.
  • Structure and price course of construction, delay in start-up, and related coverages in alignment with carrier and reinsurance guidelines.
  • Manage and optimize an Inland Marine portfolio with accountability for loss ratio, rate adequacy, and capacity utilization.
  • Partner with risk engineering and loss control resources to assess exposures and integrate mitigation strategies into underwriting decisions.
  • Maintain strong, responsive relationships with wholesale and retail brokers, serving as a technical resource on inland marine risks.
  • Support new business development through thoughtful appetite expansion, solution-oriented underwriting, and fast, informed decision-making.
  • Contribute to underwriting guidelines, authority frameworks, and product enhancements.
  • Mentor junior underwriters and support underwriting best practices across the Builders Risk team.
