About The Position

Zurich is seeking an experienced Large Casualty Underwriter for their National Account Team as an AVP Underwriting Director. This role, open in San Francisco, Los Angeles, or Denver, focuses on achieving profitable growth and strong renewal retention for Large Casualty business by evaluating, pricing, and negotiating complex commercial insurance risks and fostering broker/client relationships. It's a technical, market-facing position requiring experience in Casualty lines of business. As part of the Underwriting Team, you will apply and develop your underwriting and marketing skills, analyzing new and renewal business using The Zurich Way of Underwriting Framework within delegated authority. Underwriters are market-facing, aiming for profitable growth and superior service to brokers and customers. The team's approach, 'One Carrier, One Solution,' integrates Domestic Casualty with Umbrella, Property, Financial Lines, Cyber, and International offerings to provide comprehensive solutions for large, complex clients.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area
  • OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
  • OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area
  • OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
  • AND Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Casualty lines of business

Responsibilities

  • Underwriting, analyzing, and generating new and renewal business
  • Market facing and production within the Large Casualty, National Accounts division
  • Administering and monitoring underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations and rating manual rules
  • Developing and maintaining broker relationships in the San Francisco/Northern CA region
  • Working within broad limits and authorities on highly complex assignments
