About The Position

The AVP Talent Development & Engagement Strategy leads the strategy and execution of enterprise-wide learning and development initiatives that strengthen performance, support regulatory training compliance, and reinforce a strong, member-focused culture. This role designs and oversees development programs aligned with organizational goals, assists with the performance management processes that drive accountability and growth, and ensures all required training is completed accurately and on time. As a culture champion, the AVP Talent Development & Engagement Strategy partners with leaders to embed the credit union's values into leadership development, onboarding, and ongoing learning experiences, fostering engagement, inclusion, and continuous improvement across the organization. The AVP is responsible for fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture, while driving employee growth and development.

Requirements

  • Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
  • A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g. SHRM certification)
  • Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature.
  • Motivating, influencing, and or training others is key at this level.
  • Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and or sell ideas or services to others.

Responsibilities

  • Model exceptional service to both internal and external members and demonstrate a strong commitment to the organization's Do More Good culture by leading by example, fostering a positive work environment, and promoting our core values in all interactions.
  • Leads enterprise learning and development strategy by assessing organizational needs, setting priorities, and applying innovative learning techniques to ensure development initiatives support both business outcomes and employee growth.
  • Develop strategy and oversee daily operations, manage team performance, and ensure alignment with organizational scorecard and priorities by setting and holding staff accountable to clear goals, providing regular feedback, and facilitating effective communication.
  • Review and provide feedback on all performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and review, coach, and manage performance modification process in accordance with UICCU policies to ensure accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Enhance and support UICCU's culture by strategically developing core value, culture, and foundational training for staff and championing the culture across the organization.
  • Facilitates management enrichment opportunities by designing and coordinating learning experiences that challenge managers to broaden their skills, strengthen leadership capabilities, and expand cross functional and strategic effectiveness in support of organizational goals.
  • Designs and oversees mentoring and career pathing programs that support employee growth, strengthen leadership pipelines, and align individual development goals with the credit union's long-term talent needs.
  • Leads the organization's training compliance framework, ensuring enterprise-wide learnings programs align with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and audit expectations while supporting employee understanding and accountability.
  • Develops and leads the employee recognition strategy, ensuring programs consistently reinforce the credit union's values, recognize meaningful contributions, and promote employee engagement, retention, and positive workplace culture.
  • Facilitates and supports employee-led committees and initiatives that foster fun, connection, and engagement, helping to create an energized workplace culture aligned with the credit union's values.
  • Prepare, manage, and adhere to the departmental budget by forecasting expenses, monitoring expenditures, and implementing cost-saving measures to ensure financial efficiency and accountability.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and innovative solutions to enhance departmental efficiency, reduce costs, and support overall organizational goals.
