Reporting to the Chief Lending Officer, the AVP of Special Assets manages troubled and higher-risk commercial loans after they are transferred to Special Assets. The role works directly with borrowers and guarantors to develop practical plans to restore repayment when possible, restructure loans when appropriate, or recover as much as reasonably possible through collateral or legal remedies. The position also monitors credit risk, keeps leadership informed, and works closely with Commercial Lending, Credit Administration, Finance/Accounting, Legal Counsel, and Compliance to protect the Credit Union and support safe and sound lending. Further, the position administers commercial watch-list, individually evaluated loans, and special-assets reporting and provides timely, accurate, and well-supported information regarding asset quality, risk-rating migration, delinquencies, nonaccruals, modifications, charge-offs, recoveries, collateral exposure, and workout progress. The AVP of Special Assets promotes safe and sound commercial lending practices consistent with applicable Credit Union policy, New Mexico law, NCUA regulations and supervisory guidance, and generally accepted accounting principles. All employees of State Employees Credit Union are proactive, results driven, and fully committed to the Credit Union's mission and vision. They strive to achieve the highest standards of excellence and consistently exceed the expectations established by Credit Union Management.
