About The Position

Assistant Vice President in Labor and Employment Job Posting AT&T is seeking a skilled and experienced labor and employment lawyer to join our expert legal team in Dallas, Texas. This lawyer will advise on day-to-day labor and employment matters for a complex, highly-regulated company with more than 110,000 U.S. employees, over half of whom are union-represented.

Requirements

  • Experience advising on management-side labor and employment matters with outstanding communication skills, sound judgment, strong analytical abilities, and a focus on delivering practical, risk-adjusted business-solutions.
  • A track record of proactively handling complex and varied legal matters in a fast-paced environment with a demonstrated ability to prioritize and deliver quality work-product.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all internal stakeholders and legal department colleagues.
  • Knowledge of federal and state labor and employment laws and a passion for continuous learning to spot evolving trends to address potential legal implications for the company.
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the state bar.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical standards.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in labor and employment law, preferably with some in-house counsel experience supporting large organizations

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an expert on a wide range of labor and employment matters, including: Advising on labor contract interpretations, contract negotiations, contract application and compliance, labor strategy, and grievances
  • Advising on personnel, workplace investigations, and disciplinary matters
  • Handling federal and state agency matters (e.g., NLRB, EEOC, DOL)
  • Defending labor arbitrations and overseeing labor-related litigation
  • Act as a trusted advisor to internal clients who routinely seek strategic and risk-based input for unique solutions beyond a traditional legal focus to achieve desired business outcomes.
