About The Position

The Associate Vice President, Operational Risk Management, Process and Execution will be responsible for holding the first and second line accountable to delivering Process & Execution Risk programs, investing in controls to prevent operational losses and developing business practices that are aligned to TD's values & ethics while meeting all applicable laws, rules, and regulations. The AVP will be an active member of risk management committees for Process & Execution Risk Programs and will be expected to mature Operational Risk Programs to align with regulatory expectations and industry practice.

Requirements

  • 10+ years progressive experience in Operational Risk Management or related field.
  • 5 years+ executive experience in Operational Risk Management or equivalent preferred.
  • Have knowledge of the regulatory environment and requirements, the banking industry and TD operations.
  • Be a skillful communicator and influencer to build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, providing challenge and push back as needed and advancing decision making.
  • Be a highly motivated individual with a track record of successfully developing and implementing large scale programs with superior results, while managing effectively in a highly matrixed environment.
  • Be able to effectively challenge business leaders while providing value added guidance.
  • Can work with a pool of experts and ensure high levels of service even when the effort crosses organizational boundaries.

Responsibilities

  • Own, manage and evolve core Operational Risk Programs related to Process & Execution Risk and are documented in respective Frameworks, Policies and Standards to set a consistent and appropriate bar across the Bank regarding how Operational Risk is governed and managed to meet regulatory expectations, TD's strategic objectives and stakeholder/client interests.
  • Driving strategic Process Risk & Execution program uplifts to achieve advances in governance and risk management.
  • Responsible for ongoing Process Risk & Execution program management including reporting, internal training and socialization of Process Risk & Execution program expectations and emerging risks with key stakeholders, leaders, senior executives and key control partners to drive change and adoption across the Bank.
  • Work with various partners (e.g., EGRC, Compliance, FCRM, Audit, etc) and Business Segments/Corporate Functions to mature process & execution risk management, including frameworks, policies, standards and risk reporting.
  • Lead Process & Execution Risk program management to promote a strong risk and control environment and foster a strong culture of integrity, ethics and regulatory compliance.
  • On a regular basis, or as needed, report updates to designated risk committees from an enterprise perspective.
  • Oversee and monitor adherence to the frameworks, policies and standards from an enterprise perspective.
  • Provide routine and regular reporting of Process & Execution Risk program activities, issues and events, through appropriate channels.
  • Manage Process & Execution Risk programs within the parameters of the financial plan, on time and on budget.
  • Maintain positive, honest, transparent and constructive relationships with regulators.
