About The Position

LPL Financial is seeking an AVP, Data Engineer Manager to lead the design, development, and enhancement of data products and applications. This role involves supporting and remediating existing application implementations, overseeing new implementations accessing databases, and expanding to Cloud services. The manager will translate functional requirements into technical code using SQL databases, ETL development, and batch scheduling, while also developing and managing data pipelines. A key responsibility is loading daily batch data and ensuring efficient and reliable data processing for home office reporting. The role provides architecture and design guidance to developers, coordinates with cross-functional teams on large volume finance data metrics, and manages onshore and offshore development teams. Additionally, the manager will mentor and lead developers, investigate and resolve technical issues, and manage the full life cycle of data warehousing projects, including ETL, data modeling, data cleansing, SQL databases, migration projects, information security compliance, and database backup and recovery. The AVP will serve as the resident expert in database application deliveries, focusing on overall performance and finance data. The position requires 10% domestic travel for business development meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field and five (5) years of experience as a Data Engineer, Solutions Architect, Database Administrator (or a closely related occupation).
  • Master's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field and three (3) years of experience as a Data Engineer, Solutions Architect, Database Administrator (or a closely related occupation).
  • Demonstrated expertise with relational or cloud-based database development to deliver solutions using ETL applications (AWS, DBT, Snowflake, Informatica, Big Data, and Data Stage), and ensure data integration and consistency across data sources.
  • Develop ETL scripts and workflows to automate data processing tasks using Oracle, SQL, Python, and MapR Data Platform.
  • Design and develop data models using Operational Data Stores (ODS), Enterprise Data Warehouses (EDW), and Data Marts to support business intelligence and analytics.
  • Perform implementation of Cloud based finance data integrations for M&A activities and migration of data warehouses onto Cloud based technologies, using DBT ETL Tool, AWS, PostGres SQL, and Snowflake.
  • Design, develop, and manage data pipelines using Amazon Managed Workflows for Apache Airflow (MWAA) DAGs, Control-M, Informatica PowerCenter, AWS Glue, and Talend Open Studio.
  • Utilize version control tools (TFS and GitHub), and implement configuration management and deployment tools (Terraform, CI/CD Pipelines, and Octopus Deploy).
  • Track, manage, and resolve incidents and service requests using ServiceNow.

  • Investigate, brainstorm, and strategize to resolve technical issues, offering alternative solutions without compromising ETL process performance.
  • Manage full life cycle experience (from requirements gathering to production deployment) in all aspects of data warehousing (ETL, data modeling, data cleansing, and SQL databases), including migration projects, information security compliance, and database backup and recovery.
  • Serve as the resident expert in database application deliveries, focusing on overall performance and finance data.
