About The Position

American National is building a highly adaptable, technically strong actuarial bench to support enterprise-wide initiatives and analytical needs across the actuarial organization. This role is designed for a highly adaptable, hands-on actuarial professional who can navigate a fast-changing environment, can be quickly deployed across diverse functional areas, and is trusted to take ownership of complex work from inception through delivery. This individual will serve as an extension of senior actuarial leadership and business partners, stepping into pricing, valuation, ALM, reporting, VM‑22, reinsurance, and other actuarial areas as needed. The role offers broad exposure and long-term career flexibility across actuarial disciplines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or related field.
  • ASA required (progress toward FSA or equivalent preferred).
  • Strong technical actuarial background with hands‑on experience in modeling, analytics, and financial analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across multiple actuarial disciplines (e.g., pricing, valuation, ALM, reporting).
  • Advanced proficiency in actuarial modeling tools and data analysis techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Step in to offer additional subject matter expertise or skillset to support modeling and financial reporting efforts.
  • Provide on‑demand actuarial and financial analysis to support a variety of areas such as experience studies, earnings analysis, reserve movement attribution, and cash flow modeling.
  • Navigate ambiguity and deliver high quality output with minimal direction.
  • Support projects across Pricing, Valuation & Financial Reporting, VM‑22 / Regulatory initiatives, Asset Liability Management (ALM), and Transaction due diligence.
  • Translate business questions into structured actuarial analyses and clearly communicate findings to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Act as a trusted resource who can be deployed into critical workstreams and expected to fully own deliverables.
  • Operate independently while maintaining strong alignment with actuarial leadership and business heads.
  • Ensure work is accurate, defensible, and aligned with enterprise standards.
  • Partner closely with actuarial leaders and business stakeholders to influence decisions through strong communication, data insights, and credibility.
  • Demonstrate leadership through initiative, judgment, and collaboration.
  • Navigate ambiguity and competing priorities with professionalism and confidence.
