About The Position

Under the general direction of the Shift Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for inspecting, repairing, testing and maintaining components used for aircraft navigation and radio communications, weather radar systems, and other instruments and computers that control flight, engine and other primary aircraft functions in accordance with standards set by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent, or any combination of education and experience that enables one to perform the job functions
  • Must hold a valid Airframe and Power Plant (A&P) Mechanic license with FCC rating and have adequate training and professional experience
  • Must possess all tools
  • Skilled in conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance
  • Skilled in installing equipment, machines, wiring or programs to meet specifications
  • Ability to read and interpret aircraft maintenance manuals and specifications to determine feasibility and methods of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components
  • Attention to detail and accuracy to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and regulations
  • Able to exercise good judgment in working with people in a team environment as well as in aircraft maintenance and safety
  • General knowledge of maintenance federal regulations
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, uses, repair and maintenance
  • Must be able to read, understand, and interpret instructions and information using the English language
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule which may include early mornings, late evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime as assigned
  • Must be able to use ladders, work stands, jacks, etc. and be able to work on all areas of the aircraft that may require access during performance of duties
  • Must be able to lift, carry, or move aircraft components weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Physical requirements include stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, fingering, and feeling

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience installing and upgrading of avionics equipment is a plus
  • Familiarity with G-1000 glass, Avidyne glass and round dial aircraft

Responsibilities

  • Interprets flight test data to diagnose malfunctions and systemic performance problems
  • Adjusts, repairs, or replaces malfunctioning components or assemblies
  • Tests avionics equipment under simulated or actual operating conditions to determine performance and airworthiness, using test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, digital meters and counters, and circuit analyzers
  • Installs electrical and electronic components, assemblies and systems in aircraft using hand and power tools
  • Calibrates installed or repaired equipment to prescribed specifications
  • Interprets technical manuals and drawings
  • Operates all power tools and equipment necessary to accomplish job assignment
  • Determine the airworthiness of aircraft and components using IAW established procedures and Federal Aviation Regulations
  • Ensure the adequacy, correctness and completion of all associated and required documentation for all maintenance work conducted
  • Maintain the work area in a safe, clean and operative condition
  • Other duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor or Director of Maintenance
