About The Position

The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains – air, land, sea, space and cyber. As an Avionics Technician III, you will lead the installation, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of avionics systems. You will also mentor junior technicians and ensure all work complies with regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience. Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of avionics systems and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to understand and interpret basic applicable technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and/or publications; ability to route wires per technical drawings.
  • Advanced skills with avionics installation tooling, wiring, wiring repair, wiring installation, soldering, and crimping techniques.
  • Must have own tools in good working order.
  • Ability to deploy for an extended amount of time to various OCONUS operating locations.
  • Ability to meet current DoD and Combatant Command requirements for deployed locations.
  • Successfully pass a pre-deployment medical assessment.
  • Must be willing and able to work extended hours, holidays, and shift schedules as required.
  • Current/ valid passport and be able to obtain a visa to travel internationally.
  • Willing to deploy OCONUS on an approximate 60/60 rotation.
  • Willing to deploy OCONUS on an approximate 90/90 rotation.
  • Willing to deploy OCONUS on an approximate 60/30 rotation.
  • Willing to deploy OCONUS on an approximate 90/30 rotation.
  • Willing to deploy OCONUS on an approximate 90/45 rotation.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the work shift.
  • Hand and finger dexterity to work with small mechanical components and tools.
  • Ability to work in a noisy environment with potential exposure to hazardous materials.
  • Ability to travel frequently to customer locations, sometimes on short notice.
  • Ability to work in a combination of office and field environments.
  • Ability to read detailed technical manuals, schematics, and computer screens.
  • Ability to inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems accurately.
  • Ability to hear and understand spoken communication in noisy environments, such as industrial sites or construction areas.
  • Ability to detect auditory signals from machinery or equipment, which may indicate issues.
  • Ability to navigate various work environments, including climbing ladders, crawling in confined spaces, and working at heights.
  • Ability to drive or operate a vehicle for frequent travel to customer locations.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks, including repairs, installations, and maintenance.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Strong awareness of safety protocols and ability to adhere to safety guidelines in potentially hazardous environments.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.
  • U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State or U.S. Department of Commerce.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in Avionics, Electronics, or a related field.
  • Expert soldering skills and use of advanced diagnostic tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with FCC and FCC General Radio Operator License (GROL).
  • Basic understanding of spectrometer, oscilloscope, and/or pitot static equipment.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense, or US Military.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the installation and maintenance of avionics equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair complex avionics issues.
  • Conduct comprehensive testing of avionics systems.
  • Document all maintenance activities accurately.
  • Ensure compliance with FCC, FAA, and company standards.
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior technicians.
  • Maintain an organized and efficient work area.
