About The Position

The Avionics Technician III is a subject matter expert responsible for advanced troubleshooting, installation, integration, and certification support of avionics systems on large cabin aircraft. This role leads complex avionics work scopes, provides technical guidance to team members, and ensures all systems meet FAA regulations, OEM specifications, and company quality standards. The technician plays a critical role in resolving complex technical issues and supporting aircraft completions, modifications, and return-to-service activities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • FAA Airframe license required.
  • 8+ years of experience in avionics maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting.
  • Advanced knowledge of aircraft avionics systems and system integration.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex avionics issues independently.
  • Experience working in aircraft completions, MRO, or modification environments.

Nice To Haves

  • FCC license preferred.
  • Experience working on large cabin aircraft (Gulfstream, Boeing, Airbus).
  • Experience with advanced avionics systems including IFEC, connectivity, and cabin management systems.
  • Familiarity with FAA Part 145 repair station requirements and certification processes.
  • Experience supporting STC installations and aircraft certification activities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced installation, integration, and testing of avionics systems on large cabin aircraft.
  • Lead troubleshooting and fault isolation for complex avionics systems including communication, navigation, IFEC, connectivity, and cabin management systems.
  • Interpret and validate complex engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and system schematics.
  • Support system integration, configuration, and functional testing across multiple avionics platforms.
  • Perform system-level diagnostics and ensure proper operation through final functional and operational checks.
  • Support STC installations, modifications, and certification activities in coordination with engineering and quality teams.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to Avionics Technician I and II personnel.
  • Coordinate with engineering to resolve design issues, discrepancies, and system integration challenges.
  • Ensure all work is performed and documented in compliance with FAA regulations and company procedures.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts during aircraft testing, delivery, and return-to-service processes.
  • Maintain strict adherence to tool control, FOD prevention, and safety standards.
  • Assist in planning avionics work scopes, estimating labor, and supporting production schedules.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to avionics processes and system performance.
