About The Position

The Avionics Electronics Technician is responsible to perform testing, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of various moderate to complex electronic / avionics equipment in accordance with Collins Aerospace Workmanship and Quality Standards, including products returned from airlines, dealers, airframes and/or end users for service under close or general supervision, depending on Labor Grade. This is a 2nd shift position with the following schedule: Monday-Friday, 4:00 PM-12:30 AM.

Requirements

  • Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience or in the absence of a HS diploma, GED or AA/AS degree, 8 years of relevant experience is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Electronics maintenance industry experience or education required.
  • Must have prior experience troubleshooting electronics equipment.
  • This position is considered safety sensitive in accordance with FAA Guidelines.
  • Candidate will be subject to drug and alcohol testing per FAA’s regulation 14 CFR part 120, as well as 49 CFR part 40.

  • Prior experience troubleshooting to component-level.
  • Prior soldering experience in related environment.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and operates precision test equipment for alignment, troubleshooting and testing of electrical equipment and systems.
  • Has a working knowledge of standard test equipment, oscilloscopes, ohmmeters, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, etc., as well as a working knowledge of custom made test equipment, including automated test equipment.
  • Has a basic understanding of advanced test equipment functions.
  • Capable of reprogramming equipment and determines possible failures.
  • Aligns and adjusts advanced electrical components on units being tested to ensure proper functioning of electrical circuits, utilizing established test procedures.
  • Conducts a variety of functional tests to check operation and calibration of test stations, components, equipment and systems.
  • Analyzes circuitry and physically checks wiring and operation of various electronic parts, units and systems components necessary to locate malfunction source during testing of components, equipment or systems.
  • Performs difficult electrical / mechanical repair operations consisting of disassembly and assembly of units.
  • Determines requirements and installs modifications as set forth by Service Bulletin or other authorized documentation.
