About The Position

This position is for a high school AVID Elective teacher. The role involves instructing secondary-level students in the appropriate subject area, in coordination with the current curriculum and within the framework of 6-8 Core Knowledge and state content standards. The teacher will be responsible for creating a classroom environment that maximizes instructional time, supervising student safety and well-being, and administering discipline when necessary. They will develop, plan, prepare, and implement course content, format, structure, and schedule, as well as individualized programs of instruction, classroom materials, curriculum, and standards-based lesson plans and learning activities. Instruction will be provided in large, small, and one-on-one settings. The teacher will design assessment tasks, use data to provide feedback and modify instruction, and serve as an advisor to a small group of students, fostering professional, respectful, and trusting relationships. Responsibilities also include administering, editing, proofreading, and grading assignments and assessments in a timely manner, monitoring student growth and progress, adapting support as needed, and maintaining documentation. Communication with parents/guardians and other staff regarding student progress and needs is essential. The role may also include before-school, after-school, and/or lunch duty.

Requirements
