About The Position

The Aviation Maintenance Technician Instructor (AT-Type) will provide exceptional academic and on-the-job training (OJT) to foreign military students (with varying degrees of experience and knowledge) on avionics and missions systems repair and troubleshooting on the MH-60R. All training conducted in accordance with naval aviation maintenance programs, publications and governing instructions. Work will predominantly be conducted in the classroom and lab environment at CNATTU North Island, with additional instruction conducted in squadron hangar spaces and flight line.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Journeyman-Level technical knowledge of MH-60R helicopter avionics and mission systems.
  • Journeyman-Level technical knowledge of avionics and mission systems repair and troubleshooting.
  • MH-60R O-level experience working as an AT. MH-60R experience required.
  • Journeyman-Level knowledge of CNAFINST 4790.2 Series, applicable Naval Aviation Maintenance Program Standard Operating Procedure (NAMPSOPs), Maintenance Requirement Cards (MRCs) and local NAMSOP instructions.
  • Journeyman-Level knowledge of Naval Aviation Logistics Command Information System (NALCOMIS) OOMA, automated maintenance documentation system.
  • Comfortable and effective communicator, presenter, instructor, trainer.
  • Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures.
  • Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form.
  • Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know.
  • Shall not divulge information outside the company without management approval.
  • All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.
  • Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior instructor experience/tour preferred.
  • Prior maintenance instructor strongly preferred.
  • Navy Instructor NEC qualification or Navy Master Training Specialist (MTS) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic and on-the-job training (OJT) to foreign military students on avionics and mission systems repair and troubleshooting on the MH-60R.
  • Maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair aviation electronics systems, including communications, radar, navigation, antisubmarine warfare sensors, electronic warfare, data link, fire control, and tactical displays with associated equipment.
  • Interpret schematics for electronics and advanced electronics test equipment.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance/essential flight services in support of flight schedules, including daily, turnaround, special, hourly, and conditional inspections.
  • Handle and service aircraft.
  • Document all maintenance activities in accordance with applicable procedures, via paper logs and records, and electronic logs and records systems such as NALCOMIS OOMA recordkeeping or other alternatives.
  • Attend classroom and lab activities as a student and successfully complete a course of instruction to become a fully qualified instructor.
  • Document all training activities in accordance with established procedures at hosting command and company requirements via paper and/or electronic recordkeeping.
  • Prepare a personalized instructor guide (IG).
  • Conduct maintenance tasks along with proper documentation on MH-60R in support of OJT training for foreign students, if required.
  • Safely conduct lab instruction.
  • Act as a safety observer for lab instruction provided by instructor colleagues.
  • Maintain a clean workspace, lab, and classroom environment.
  • Assist the lead maintenance instructor with necessary administrative tasks including preparation for student arrival.
  • Assist in other administrative duties including student and instructor scheduling and tracking training.
  • Assist the IMSO as required for support of student movement through the training program.
  • Assist with other administrative and non-administrative duties as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
