This position provides hands-on aviation maintenance training in Iowa Western's FAA Part 147 Aviation Maintenance Technology program, preparing students for careers as Aviation Maintenance Technicians. Instruction includes aircraft structures, powerplants, airframe systems, electrical systems, hydraulics, aviation regulations, inspection procedures, and aircraft maintenance safety practices. Students gain practical experience diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and inspecting aircraft while developing the technical and professional skills needed to succeed in the aviation industry. This position is ideal for FAA-certified Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) mechanics looking to transition into teaching, aviation maintenance technicians with commercial, corporate, military, or general aviation experience, maintenance supervisors, lead technicians, and inspection personnel interested in developing the next generation of aviation professionals, and aviation professionals who enjoy mentoring students and sharing their industry expertise. This position is best suited for candidates with hands-on aviation maintenance experience and may not be ideal for those with aviation management-only experience without maintenance responsibilities, engineering-only backgrounds with limited aircraft maintenance experience, or purely academic aviation backgrounds without recent industry experience.
