About The Position

Universal Technical Institute is seeking an Aviation Maintenance Instructor with a background in aircraft powerplant systems, including reciprocating and turbine engines. No prior teaching experience is required—we will train you to become an effective instructor. As an Aviation Maintenance Instructor, you will deliver instruction focused on aircraft powerplant systems, beginning with reciprocating engine courses and progressing into turbine engine systems. You will guide students through both theory and hands-on application, ensuring they develop the knowledge and skills required for industry success.

Requirements

• Must hold a valid FAA Aviation Mechanic Certificate with both Airframe (A) and Powerplant (P) ratings
• Minimum three (3) years of practical aviation maintenance experience
• Experience with reciprocating engines required
• Demonstrated command of aviation maintenance theory and practical application
• Current, industry-relevant knowledge of aircraft systems and maintenance practices
• Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts in both classroom and lab environments
• Bachelor’s degree with appropriate coursework in aviation maintenance or a related field OR Eight (8) years of related practical aviation maintenance experience AND college-level coursework in the subject area(s) taught

Nice To Haves

• Experience with turbine engines preferred
• Prior instructional experience or training in instructional methods preferred

Responsibilities

• Deliver classroom and hands-on lab instruction for powerplant courses
• Demonstrate engine operation, inspection, and maintenance procedures
• Guide students through engine disassembly, inspection, and reassembly activities
• Reinforce troubleshooting techniques and system-level understanding
• Ensure compliance with FAA-aligned curriculum and institutional standards
• Monitor student progress and provide coaching and feedback
• Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and documentation
