About The Position

Universal Technical Institute is seeking an Aviation Maintenance Instructor with a background in aircraft powerplant systems, including reciprocating and turbine engines. No prior teaching experience is required—we will train you to become an effective instructor. As an Aviation Maintenance Instructor, you will deliver instruction focused on aircraft powerplant systems, beginning with reciprocating engine courses and progressing into turbine engine systems. You will guide students through both theory and hands-on application, ensuring they develop the knowledge and skills required for industry success. Initial course assignments include: Reciprocating Engine and Engine Instruments, Fuel Metering, Induction, and Exhaust Systems, Ignition Systems, Lubrication Systems and Propellers, Engine Inspection and Overhaul. Additional responsibilities will expand into turbine engine systems, including: Turbine engine design and operation, Engine accessories and supporting systems, Inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 5 years of practical work experience in the field excludes teaching - reciprocating engines, and turbine is a plus
  • FAA A&P (Airframe A and Powerplant P) ratings and license is highly valued, but if not current, we will pay for you to obtain
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to effectively connect with students and fellow staff
  • A patient and empathetic approach to teaching, understanding that every student learns at their own pace

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred bachelor’s degree with appropriate coursework in aviation maintenance or a related field is a plus
