About The Position

Fluor is seeking an Aviation Firefighter (Driver/Operator) to join their Fire Services team. This role is crucial for providing aviation firefighting services to minimize loss of life and property in the event of a fire. The position involves controlling and extinguishing fires, operating various firefighting equipment, and using special protective gear in hazardous situations. The Aviation Firefighter will be responsible for driving fire apparatus to the scene of fires, maintaining accountability for personal protective gear, and conducting daily inspections. This role also includes assisting with Aircraft Rescue and Structural Firefighting (ARFF and Structural) operations, mission planning, and preparing and conducting training for military personnel on ARFF management, equipment, and facility fire extinguishers. Maintaining proficiencies, licenses, and certifications in accordance with regulations, NFPA, and ARFF standards is essential. The position also involves managing inventories of materials and equipment, anticipating shortfalls, and planning for the movement of resources to support mobile ARFF operations. Ensuring all fire department members meet training and certification requirements and maintaining the safety of firefighters through proper procedures are key responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma / GED equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 years experience in operating the apparatus and its pumping operations.
  • Possess the ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at the intermediate level as necessary to perform assigned job functions.
  • Must be able to respond to rescue or fire alarms/notifications within 3 minutes.
  • Must possess a standard issue civilian drivers license.

Responsibilities

  • Provides aviation firefighting services to minimize loss of life and property in the event of fire.
  • Controls and extinguishes fires.
  • Operates pumps, foam generators, boom and ground sweeps nozzles and other similar equipment.
  • Uses a variety of special protective gear in situations where poisonous gases, highly flammable combustible liquids, radioactive materials, and hazardous biological products are involved.
  • Responsible for driving vehicle to scene of fire following predetermined route or selecting alternate route when necessary.
  • Maintain accountability and responsibility of all individually assigned personal protective gear within IAW guidance and regulations.
  • Conduct daily inspections of personal protective gear for serviceability and accountability.
  • Provide assistance on Aircraft Rescue and Structural Firefighting (ARFF and Structural) operations and mission planning.
  • Prepare and conduct training for military personnel on ARFF management operations and equipment to include facility fire extinguishers and fire protection.
  • Maintain proficiencies, licenses, and certifications in accordance with applicable regulations and Host Nation guidance, NFPA, and ARFF regulation.
  • Manage inventories, before, during, and after operations of assigned materials and equipment.
  • Anticipate and plan for shortfalls in materials, equipment, and ARFF capabilities.
  • Plan for movement of materials, equipment, and personnel in support of mobile ARFF operations to various locations.
  • Ensure all fire department members, including communications center personnel, meet training and certification requirements outlined in DoDM 6055.06.
  • Ensure the safety of all firefighters by following proper procedures.
