About The Position

Garver has been designing aviation projects for more than 250 airport clients across the country for the last six decades. Garver understands the complexities of airport systems held together by runways, roadways, facilities, and electrical systems that must work in tandem to accommodate daily needs for passenger travel and cargo transport. As part of Garver's commitment to continued innovation in airport design, our Aviation Design Center maintains a diverse, skilled design team dedicated to providing the expertise and leadership to assist our clients in meeting their current and future needs. As part of the Garver Aviation Design Center, you will have the opportunity to receive training from senior engineers in various elements of aviation electrical engineering design, including airport lighting and signage layout, airfield power distribution design, and FAA navigational aid facility improvements. This internship offers the chance to work alongside and be mentored by experienced aviation design professionals and industry leaders in an engineering office environment. You will experience daily interactions with engineering staff, including weekly team meetings, design progress meetings, and construction progress meetings. Training will be provided by senior engineers in various elements of airport lighting, photometric design, power distribution design, and construction administration for commercial service and general aviation airports. You will gain experience in plan and specification preparation for aviation projects and conduct site visits to see Garver's aviation projects in real life, such as airport hangars, taxiways, and runways. The Garver Launch Program is an immersive hands-on intern development program designed to elevate your summer experience. You will engage daily with fellow Garver Launch interns and industry professionals to build your network, participate in Garver's acclaimed wellness program, give back to the community through volunteer activities as part of Garver Gives, and enhance your professional growth by collaborating with Garver's Learning and Development team.

Requirements

Candidates must be pursuing an electrical engineering bachelor’s degree in an ABET accredited program.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Strong interest in pursuing electrical engineering in the aviation industry.

Experience with AutoCAD or Civil 3D
