This position provides high-quality diagnostic services for the laboratory through diagnostic pathology, including necropsy, histopathology, case coordination, and client consultation, with a primary focus on the avian/poultry caseload. The role involves outreach and engagement with key stakeholders such as veterinarians, the poultry industry, and producers. Teaching and mentoring avian pathology to residents is encouraged based on interest, case-load, experience, and qualifications. The North Carolina Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory System (NCVDLS) is an AAVLD-accredited participant in the National Animal Health Laboratory Network with BSL3 necropsy capability. Its mission is to provide accurate and timely laboratory support services for diagnosing, surveilling, and responding to and preventing animal diseases, with a focus on protecting public health and the food supply.
