The Student Developer position is a maximum of 20 hours per week, with flexible hours to fit a school schedule. The philosophy is to rapidly develop prototypes for faculty, students, and staff to introduce them to new technologies and determine their suitability. This position often involves researching and trying out new technologies, prioritizing a generalized approach to development over specific frameworks. The ability to learn and experiment is valued over experience. The Advanced Visualization Center (AVC) is looking to hire a student for software development, specifically sophomores or younger. As a student developer working at the AVC, you will be tasked with creating a wide variety of applications, as well as general technical tasks related to advanced technologies. Previous projects include full stack websites, d3.js data visualizations, Python web scraping and data processing, Unity AR and VR applications, mobile app development for Android and iOS, computer vision, AI model use and training, microcontrollers, and working with 3D models and related content, as well as setting up and managing multiple VR headsets. More examples can be found on the AVC website.
