About The Position

LCI is seeking an Avaya Engineer that will be responsible for the design, implementation, and lifecycle management of our enterprise voice, video, and unified communication systems. You will specialize in Avaya Aura (Communication Manager, Session Manager) and IP Office platforms to ensure high-quality, reliable communication services. This role involves optimizing IP telephony, managing SIP trunking, and supporting contact center technologies to meet the evolving needs of our organization. Individual must be able to attain and maintain a valid U.S. Government security clearance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or a related field (equivalent professional experience may be considered).
  • Minimal 3–7 years of hands-on experience specifically with Avaya Aura or IP Office platforms in an enterprise environment.
  • DoDD 8570 IAT Level II Certification: CompTIA Security+ or equivalent
  • Avaya Call Manager (CM)
  • Avaya certification
  • SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: All personnel require a minimum of a Tier 1 clearance
  • US Citizenship is a requirement for a Public Trust investigation
  • Advanced knowledge of IP telephony, Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), VMware environments, and contact center technologies (e.g., CMS, Call Recording).
  • Strong analytical problem-solving abilities, the initiative to work independently, and the communication skills necessary to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.

  • Able to establish implementation plans for PBX/Voice Mail installations.

  • Able to attain confined space certification, and experience working in confined spaces (manholes) preferred.

  • Preference given to candidates holding Avaya Certified Implementation Specialist (ACIS) or Avaya Certified Support Specialist (ACSS) credentials.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the configuration, installation, and maintenance of Avaya components (CM, SM, System Manager, SBC) and branch gateways.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting support on VoIP issues, utilizing diagnostic tools like Wireshark and TraceSM to resolve complex outages and performance gaps.
  • Troubleshoot, upgrade, and optimize IP telephony, SIP trunking, and contact center technologies, ensuring high-quality, reliable communication services.
  • Configure, install, and maintain Avaya Aura Core components (CM, SM, System Manager, SBC) and branch gateways.
  • Perform software patches, hardware upgrades, firmware updates, and regular system maintenance.
  • Manage extensions, dial plans, routing patterns, and user mailboxes.
  • Implement SIP trunking, VoIP services, and optimize QoS and VLANs.
  • Create technical documentation and user guides for system changes
  • Establishes communications systems by installing, operating, and maintaining voice and data telecommunications network circuits and equipment.
  • Plans network installations by studying customer orders, plans, manuals, and technical specifications; ordering and gathering equipment, supplies, materials, and tools; assessing installation site; and preparing an installation diagram.
  • Perform the full range of services related to copper and fiber cable installation, termination, repair, marking, cutover, and splicing procedures.
  • Perform Monthly Maintenance including Periodic Maintenance Inspections (PMI) and repair of manholes, hand holes, pedestals, and building entrance terminals.
  • Perform Work Orders including customer interface, conducting site survey, development of materials requirement, documentation, and implementation.
  • Provide location, staking, and marking services on BTS encased and direct buried conduit/cables, manholes, hand holes, pedestals, etc.
  • Must be detailed and safety oriented.
