About The Position

The A/V Technician is responsible for the setup, operation, troubleshooting, and breakdown of audio, video, and lighting equipment for hotel events and client functions. As skills develop, this position will focus on mastering one specialty area (Audio, Video, or Lighting) while maintaining a working knowledge of all A/V disciplines. Part-Time Position Shifts will vary between mornings and evenings depending on event schedules and operational needs. Candidates must have the flexibility to work weekends and holidays.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 6 months of production background in any of the following: theater, sound, video, photography and or computers.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with meeting planners, trainers and corporate executives.
  • Basic computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Previous guest services experience.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to work variable hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Familiarity with basic office equipment, including computers, printers, fax, and copy machines.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer knowledge of PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Set up projectors, large screens, pipe and drape, staging, and other event equipment for meetings, conferences, and special events.
  • Install, secure, and manage audio, video, power, and network cabling as needed.
  • Climb ladders up to 16 feet and operate scissor lifts up to 20 feet to hang banners, adjust lighting, and complete event setups.
  • Safely transport, move, and position audio-visual equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Assist with the assembly and breakdown of event equipment before and after functions.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly secured, tested, and ready for client use.
