About The Position

AV Staffing Solutions is seeking an experienced AV Technician for a contract opportunity with a leading technology solutions provider in the Tempe, Arizona area. There may be an opportunity for long-term or full-time employment based on business needs, project requirements and performance. This is a hands-on position installing, servicing, testing and troubleshooting commercial audiovisual and low-voltage systems, including Bogen, Cisco, Extron and more. The technician will work as part of an experienced project team and may also work independently depending on the assignment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, technical school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Approximately 3+ years of experience with communications infrastructure, structured cabling, commercial AV or related low-voltage installation
  • Experience working with fiber, copper, coax and/or hybrid cabling
  • Understanding of commercial audio and video systems
  • Ability to read and work from installation plans and technical documentation
  • Ability to safely use hand tools and appropriate test equipment
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to work overtime, nights or weekends when project requirements call for it
  • Valid driver's license required

Responsibilities

  • Install, service, test and troubleshoot commercial audio-visual systems
  • Install projectors, projection screens and flat-panel displays
  • Install wall- and ceiling-mounted speakers and cameras
  • Install tabletop, ceiling and wireless microphone systems
  • Perform rack fabrication, equipment staging and equipment installation
  • Install and work with Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optic and other structured cabling
  • Pull, dress, organize and label cable according to industry standards
  • Install outlets, patch panels, fiber enclosures, racks, backboards and related hardware
  • Perform copper and fiber splicing and identify active circuits
  • Assist with grounding infrastructure and grounding testing
  • Upload and download control programs, including Extron systems
  • Assist with minor programming changes under the direction of an engineer or programmer
  • Use appropriate test equipment to troubleshoot and verify system performance
  • Work in both new construction and retrofit environments
  • Complete required job-site documentation
  • Follow all company and job-site safety requirements
  • Provide professional customer service while working at client locations
