About The Position

The AV Tech 1 role is an entry-level technical position responsible for supporting day-to-day fleet readiness through inspection, maintenance, documentation, and safe operation of autonomous vehicle systems. This role focuses on executing standardized repairs, performing initial diagnostics, and ensuring all work is completed in accordance with Moove safety, quality, and documentation standards.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in automotive maintenance; fleet, rental, or rideshare experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; automotive certificate or entry-level industry certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated success performing component replacements and light mechanical work (e.g., wipers, pumps).
  • Proficiency in high-volume tire mounting and balancing using computerized tire service equipment.
  • Ability to service low-voltage batteries independently and perform basic vehicle startup and software loading.
  • Safe operation of vehicle movement equipment with a clear understanding of neutral and brake states.
  • Working knowledge of advanced driver assistance and sensing hardware (e.g., cameras, radar) and standard automotive diagnostic tools.
  • Professional work order management with accurate and timely system entries.
  • Clear, complete documentation of all maintenance activities using standardized digital repair records.
  • Accurate tracking of parts usage, scrap logging, and vehicle status labeling.
  • Foundational high-voltage awareness and strict adherence to lockout and tagout protocols.
  • Consistent compliance with SOPs and hazardous material handling and disposal requirements.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift assemblies exceeding 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to rotate across AM, PM, and overnight shifts as required.
  • Ability to meet aggressive cycle-time targets (e.g., under one hour for tire services).

Responsibilities

  • Perform multi-point safety and cosmetic inspections on vehicle systems to ensure operational readiness.
  • Execute light collision repairs and conduct initial damage severity assessments to determine next steps.
  • Replace worn or damaged components beyond consumables to maintain fleet availability and reliability.
  • Perform vehicle startup procedures, basic software loading, and installation of required data-logging hardware.
  • Complete initial vehicle health scans using approved diagnostic methods and escalate identified technical anomalies as required.
  • Document all maintenance activities using standardized condition, cause, correction, and confirmation practices.
  • Prioritize and execute repair orders within the approved maintenance management system to maximize fleet uptime and throughput.
  • Adhere strictly to Standard Operating Procedures to reduce rework and ensure consistent repair quality.
  • Safely handle and store compressed gases, flammable liquids, and high-voltage battery systems in compliance with safety protocols.
  • Maintain readiness for site-specific emergency response plans, including battery thermal events.
  • Prepare vehicles and documentation for internal and partner-led quality checks to meet industry standards.
  • Address environmental faults and tire pressure variations caused by extreme weather conditions.
