The person in this role will work from the Medtronic facility located in Lafayette, Colorado. This role will require <25% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects. We are seeking a hands-on, highly adaptable Audio Visual System & Event Support Specialist who is comfortable supporting both workplace technology and live event production. In this role, you will support and deliver reliable AV and collaboration technology experiences across the Lafayette campus—from configuring and troubleshooting Microsoft Teams Rooms and meeting room technology to operating the technical setup for town halls, leadership meetings, and campus events. You will serve as the primary on-site AV and event technology resource, ensuring conference rooms, presentation spaces, and event environments are fully operational and ready for use. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who enjoys both the technical and operational sides of AV, capable of independently managing day-to-day support while confidently operating audio, video, and streaming technology during high-visibility events. While you will be the dedicated AV presence on campus, you will also be supported by a strong global team of collaboration and AV specialists who provide standards, tools, and escalation support when needed. Requirements

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) and 3+ years of experience

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of experience in an audiovisual, live event production, broadcast production, IT/UC support or conference room / unified communications engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience with live event production - hybrid town halls, broadcast/streaming, stagecraft, lighting, and sound reinforcement.
  • Ability to work on-site at the Lafayette, CO campus during normal business hours, with occasional early-morning, evening, or weekend coverage for events.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and operate audiovisual equipment up to 50 lbs, including ladder work, cable runs, and rack-mounted hardware.
  • Hands-on experience with camera operation, vision mixing/switching, and audio engineering (vMix, ATEM, Dante, or comparable platforms).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Teams Rooms - provisioning, configuration, firmware management, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with conference room AV components - DSPs, video bars, room controllers, displays, codecs, and signal distribution.
  • Experience with live streaming to internal audiences (Microsoft Teams Live Events, Stream, Vbrick, or comparable platforms).
  • Strong signal-flow troubleshooting skills across video, audio, and network paths.
  • Experience supporting mock-OR, simulation labs, broadcast studios, or other specialized AV environments is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written; comfortable working directly with executive stakeholders, presenters, and HCPs.
  • Self-starter who can work independently as the only dedicated AV seat on campus, while collaborating effectively with a globally distributed team.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with a positive, customer-service-oriented attitude.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite or basic video editing tools.
  • Experience working in a global, cross-functional environment.
  • Eagerness to learn and expand responsibilities across both event production and AV systems engineering.
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site AV production and technical support for events at the Lafayette campus, including hybrid town halls, leadership broadcasts, all-hands meetings, medical education sessions, and visiting executive engagements.
  • Support mock-OR AV needs - camera, audio, lighting, and live streaming for surgical training, product demonstrations, and HCP education sessions.
  • Act as dedicated onsite POC for customers and organizers, including production team and third-party vendors
  • Run pre-event technical rehearsals, manage day-of execution, and troubleshoot issues in real time.
  • Operate and maintain the Lafayette event inventory - cameras, audio, switching, streaming encoders, and related production gear - including asset tracking and basic repair.
  • Coordinate with travelling producers on larger or more complex events requiring additional production expertise.
  • Use Microsoft Teams, vMix, Dante audio networking, and related platforms to deliver hybrid events to in-room and remote audiences.
  • Capture and organize event recordings; support post-event content workflows as needed.
  • Produce virtual events as needed for global stakeholders via Teams or the internal streaming platform.
  • Provide engineering-level support for Lafayette conference rooms, collaboration spaces, and AV infrastructure for Microsoft Teams Rooms, room control systems, and audio/video components.
  • Perform new room deployments and AV system commissioning at Lafayette; support firmware management, system health monitoring, and preventive maintenance.
  • Configure and troubleshoot AV hardware remotely for other Medtronic sites where physical hands are not required.
  • Partner with on-site technicians, who handle routine break/fix coverage, by escalating engineering-level work and overseeing root-cause resolution.
  • Document configurations, standards, and runbooks
  • Serve as the primary on-site AV point of contact for Lafayette campus stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain trusted working relationships with site leadership, Communications partners, surgical training program owners, and visiting executives’ staff.
  • Identify opportunities to improve event delivery, room reliability, and customer experience at the Lafayette site.
