AV Specialist I

About The Position

Ever dream of a job where you get thanked for pressing "Input 2" and saving a meeting from becoming an awkward game of charades? Do you possess the magical ability to summon PowerPoint slides onto a screen moments before a keynote, like some kind of tech sorcerer? Lyon College is seeking an AV Specialist I who doesn't just understand the difference between VGA and HDMI but also has strong opinions about it. This is your chance to be the hero behind the curtain, the wizard of wires, and the master of microphones at one of Arkansas' most tech-forward liberal arts institutions. Let's be honest, when there aren't events to run or speakers to mic up, you'll be part of our elite IT support unit (read: the Helpdesk), wielding your troubleshooting skills to conquer printer tantrums, network mysteries, and software shenanigans. You'll get your hands on everything from setting up classroom tech to diagnosing stubborn workstations, and yes, occasionally explaining to someone that the reason their email isn't sending is because... they're not connected to the Wi-Fi. But underneath the cables and clever comebacks is a serious gig. This full-time, exempt role reports to the Associate Director of IT Services and carries equal responsibility for supporting AV operations and daily IT functions. You'll maintain and operate AV systems across campus, support live events and streaming, and ensure classroom tech is running smoothly. When not managing soundboards and projectors, you'll be providing hands-on IT support to students, faculty, and staff. Preferred candidates will have a degree in IT or a related field, demonstrated experience in AV and tech support, and certifications or skills with platforms like Crestron and live-streaming tools. Nights and weekends are sometimes part of the show, but for the right person, this is more than a job-it's your tech stage. Sound check, please.
