About The Position

M.C. Dean is seeking an AV Design Engineer 3 to join their Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit. This role involves designing, engineering, integrating, operating, and maintaining electronic security services, including intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audio visual, IT systems, perimeter defense, and command and control systems for federal, local, and commercial customers. The engineer will work with a dynamic team responsible for design decisions in all areas of A/V Systems and provide technical direction for multiple projects across various programs.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a Related Engineering Discipline with 5+ years' OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a Related Engineering Discipline with 3+ years' of progressive experience.
Developing and implementing hardware and software solutions for data center and virtual infrastructure technologies.
Demonstrated experience with developing cost estimates and work breakdown structures for the design and implementation of complex projects.
Demonstrated experience performing technical cross-training/coaching of junior colleagues.
Demonstrated background working with multidisciplinary teams.
Demonstrated time management and organization skills to meet deadlines and quality objective.
Ability to travel, including internationally, up to 20% of the time.
Familiarity with IT, telecommunications, A/V and electrical equipment including related materials and specifications.
Strong knowledge of videoconferencing standards.
Experience reading and interpreting blueprints.
Experience performing complex design/build and conceptual design practices.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
AutoCAD experience, or experience drafting with a similar drafting software.
Strong Oral, Written and Presentation Skills with the ability and experience communicating directly with executive leadership.
Solid problem solving and consultative skills in a fast-paced environment.
Must be able to obtain a Top Secret DoD security clearance.
U.S. Citizenship required for access to classified information.

Responsibilities

Designing the systems hardware and software framework for large complex resilient systems and formulating high-level architectural solutions to ensure implemented solutions meet stakeholder needs, standards, and performance requirements.
Creating Drawing Packages and Bill of Materials in CAD.
Design and testing of complex videoconferencing and integrated audio/visual technologies (videoconferencing, control systems, displays, video walls and matrix systems, audio reinforcement systems, cameras, microphones, document cameras, streaming technologies, etc.) and A/V based collaboration technologies.
Design of audio/video systems with Crestron, AMX and Extron control systems.
Conduct customer site surveys and provide sales engineering support, including collecting and recording detailed operational, functional and technical requirements, developing project scopes, and providing overall system costing for A/V projects.
Design and test and troubleshoot various network and telecommunications systems including IP networks and ISDN networks.
Understanding plans and specifications to identify the types and grades of materials and equipment needed to ensure compliance with project requirements.
Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work.
Develop test plans for complex AV control system functional acceptance tests of AMX, Crestron, and Extron control systems.
Develop and conduct on-site user and administrative training for the installed integrated audio/visual systems.
