About The Position

This role supports the safety and well-being of Sḵwx̱wú7mesh communities through proactive, visible, and trauma-informed patrol services. As a member of the CST, you will serve as the eyes and ears of the community—helping to prevent incidents, support Members, and connect people with appropriate services and resources.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Training in areas such as basic security, first aid, traffic control, de-escalation, Naloxone, or willingness to obtain.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage respectfully with diverse community members.
  • Experience or ability to manage conflict and de-escalate challenging situations.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed and culturally respectful practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in dynamic environments.
  • Strong organizational skills, including report writing and use of digital tools.
  • Valid BC Driver’s License (Class 4 or 5; Class 7N may be considered).
  • Access to a reliable vehicle and ability to travel between North Shore and Squamish Valley communities.
  • Physically fit and able to work outdoors, walk long distances, and respond to emergencies.
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, weekends, and on an on-call or as-needed basis (up to 24 hours per week).
  • Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check (including vulnerable sector).

Responsibilities

  • Patrol and monitor Squamish Nation communities, including housing, schools, offices, and cultural sites.
  • Observe, document, and report community safety concerns such as trespassing, vandalism, and property damage.
  • Act as a point of contact for community members, providing information and connecting individuals to supports and services.
  • Support road safety initiatives, including traffic control and parking enforcement.
  • Provide assistance during community events, incidents, and emergency situations.
  • Support Emergency Planning and Response activities as required.
  • Maintain accurate incident and shift reports using digital tools and systems.
  • Perform additional duties to support community safety initiatives.
