Autopsy Technician I (Temporary)
About The Position
This is a temporary, full-time position located at 4312 District Drive, Raleigh - Wake County with the Department of Health and Human Services, within the Autopsy unit. The role involves assisting with body management, including the receipt and release of decedents with funeral homes/transporters. The technician will also be responsible for cleaning and disinfecting the autopsy facility and associated equipment according to protocols, performing radiographic procedures on bodies, and assisting the pathologist in the proper packaging and labeling of material to preserve the chain of custody evidence. Additionally, the position ensures proper equipment and instruments are available for autopsy procedures and performs other administrative tasks as requested. This is a non-cutting position.
Requirements
- Associate degree in the biological/anatomical, forensic, mortuary/funeral, or criminal justice sciences from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
