As an Autonomy Engineering Specialist focusing on autonomous mining trucks, you’ll collaborate with team members to develop new autonomous truck models and features that provide critical value to our customers. Within Caterpillar Technology, our team is building and enhancing our Command for Hauling software that our customers use at their worksites. In this role, you'll work with cross functional teams to identify opportunities for improvement and new development in this Command for Hauling product. Every day you will work with your team to solve real world problems by selecting the right approach and bringing those solutions to production. Requirements

  • Knowledge of software development life cycle; experience with issue management and resolution.
  • Experience troubleshooting integrated systems.
  • Ability to analyze software problems in complex systems to identify the source.
  • Experience evaluating impact and risk while identifying mitigations.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple cross-functional teams as part of a fast-paced software delivery team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with global delivery teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Command for Hauling systems, functions, and/or operation
  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, or PhD in an accredited Robotics, Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related degree
  • Experience with data analysis tools and scripting languages for the purpose of issue evaluation and root cause analysis
  • Familiarity with system verification and validation methods
  • Strong foundation in engineering fundamentals

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and prioritize software issues to enable high quality and high velocity delivery of Command for Hauling software.
  • Triage software issues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Prioritize issues by risk, customer impact, and other metrics.
  • Identify mitigations to enable development and validation to continue.
  • Collaborate with team members across multiple systems.
