About The Position

Leveraging its strengths in large-scale fleet management, Avis Budget Group has entered into a strategic partnership with a leader in self-driving technology to launch and scale a fully autonomous ride-hailing service. This initiative reflects our commitment to advancing modern mobility solutions beyond traditional rental services. As an Automotive Service Workflow Supervisor, you will act as the central point of coordination and visibility for maintenance work entering, moving through, and leaving the shop. You translate signals from our partner, telematics, and roadside recovery into clear, prioritized work for our technicians. You will act as the primary point of coordination to keep the shop moving. Using your automotive service expertise, you will assess repair needs, assign work based on technician skill sets, and manage daily workflow to maximize productivity, repair quality, and vehicle availability. Your coordination will play an important role in keeping our autonomous vehicle fleet operating safely and efficiently.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical education preferred
  • Three to five years experience in a service advisor, service writer, shop foreman or service coordinator role
  • 2 or more years' experience working on hybrid and/or high voltage systems and able to use test tools and read electrical wiring schematics.
  • Demonstrated experience with high-voltage diagnostics, module replacement, and advanced system troubleshooting
  • Strong working knowledge of EV safety protocols, software-driven diagnostics, and calibration processes
  • Strong understanding of automotive repair processes and technician skill requirements
  • Fluency with a DMS, CMMS, or FMIS (Fleetio, Samsara, Dossier, CDK, Tekmetric, ServiceNow Fleet, or comparable)
  • Experience coordinating shop workflow, prioritizing repairs, and assigning work.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Strong general technology comfort – email, chat/collaboration tools; ability to pick up new systems quickly
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel, Word, Google Drive, and other tools as part of your daily workflow
  • Ability to remain organized and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, especially to operational leaders and highly technical data-driven partners
  • Valid driver’s license and authorization to work in the United States
  • Successful completion of pre-employment qualification checks
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including early mornings, evenings, nights, or weekends as business needs require
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach for up to 8 hours and lift a minimum of 50 lbs. with assistance
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying environments and indoors in a mechanical shop with loud to moderate noises
  • This position requires regular, on-site presence and cannot be performed remotely

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the intake and triage process for all vehicles, including vehicle assessments, work order reviews, diagnostic information and other alerts, prioritizing fleet-wide up-time targets, not first-in, first out.
  • Assign work to the right technician, monitoring daily shop workflow to promote efficient scheduling and balanced technician utilization, continually rebalancing work as needed.
  • Maintain live awareness of every vehicle in the shop, reviewing technician productivity, coordinating and/or escalating to relevant parties and completing shift hand-offs.
  • Serve as the primary shop-floor point of contact, providing accurate proactive status updates, collaborating with the service manager, parts personnel, technicians, and operational partners to support timely repairs.
  • Own the handoff of the vehicle back to active customer use.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and the consistent execution of standard operating procedures by analyzing shop performance data and recommending improvements that increase efficiency, vehicle availability, and service quality.
  • Build a rapport with technicians, coach on quality, productivity and process, ensure repair assignments and completed work meet applicable quality, safety, and manufacturer standards, notify the Service Manager and/or on-duty Operations Manager, as appropriate, of any performance and/or behavioral issues.
  • May be required to perform mechanical, electrical, and high-voltage repairs across electric and autonomous vehicle platforms based on the needs of the business.
