About The Position

The Autonomous Maintenance (AM) Technician role is a newly created position focused on developing and implementing the company's autonomous maintenance program. This role involves training operators to maintain their equipment, building their skills and confidence to do so safely and effectively. The position is based at the Edmonton Plant 3 location and operates on a 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM schedule. The company emphasizes a people-first culture and a commitment to continuous improvement and safety.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • 5+ years in a manufacturing environment (machinery/automation preferred)
  • Experience creating training materials and leading training sessions for diverse audiences
  • Strong understanding of autonomous maintenance principles
  • Proven ability to plan, prioritize, and execute improvement initiatives
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to influence across teams
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook)
  • Mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and well-organized
  • Comfortable delivering both one-on-one and group training

Nice To Haves

  • Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt) is an asset
  • Experience with Autonomous Maintenance systems and continuous improvement is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Champion a culture rooted in safety, quality, and efficiency
  • Build trust and teamwork by reinforcing that equipment care is a shared responsibility
  • Develop and implement equipment-specific AM programs alongside production and maintenance teams
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions
  • Train operators on essential maintenance tasks, including cleaning, inspection, lubrication, and basic troubleshooting
  • Ensure teams have the tools, materials, and support needed for effective maintenance
  • Investigate equipment breakdowns, focusing on root causes, especially operator-related issues—and drive corrective actions
  • Monitor program effectiveness and equipment performance, providing insights and improvement plans to leadership
  • Identify opportunities to enhance safety, ergonomics, and accessibility in maintenance processes
  • Deliver clear, actionable reports and updates on performance and progress
