About The Position

The Automotive Worker repairs, rebuilds, or makes minor repairs of internal combustion automobiles, buses, trucks or tractors. Work involves most of the following: Servicing vehicles to keep in good working condition; replacing worn or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings, or other engine parts; addressing and adjusting valves; and repairing fuel injections, lighting, and ignition systems. This role is often entry level mechanical services centered.

Requirements

High School graduate or equivalent.
Requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and ability to follow safety procedures.
Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to read US Army service and technical manuals.
Familiarity with hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
Ability to pass Pre-Employment Drug Test and Background Screening.
Ability to receive a favorable TIER-1 investigation result, obtain and maintain a CAC.
Applicant must possess a REAL ID-compliant, state-issued driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

Attendance and award of 91B military occupational specialty preferred.
Automotive service or maintenance facility experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Performs minor service and repairs on areas such as battery checks/replacements, tire rotation, repairs. Types include those in commercial, industrial, or tactical use such as passenger cars, trucks, forklift trucks and warehouse tractors.
Wash, polish, and clean vehicle exteriors and interiors.
Drain, flush, and replace engine, transmission and differential oils and greases.
Check, clean, calibrate and replace spark plugs.
Replace oil and air filters.
Adjust brakes and replace windshield wipers.
Assist on major overhaul jobs by disassembling, cleaning, and repairing components like generators, water pumps, thermostats, points, and electrical wiring.
Maintain tools and equipment; keep work areas clean and organized.
Other duties as assigned.
