This position involves performing basic and limited advanced troubleshooting, diagnostic, servicing, and repair of gasoline and diesel equipment for the City’s vehicle fleet. Responsibilities include routine preventive maintenance, disassembling and replacing worn or broken parts, and performing engine overhauls. The role requires the ability to troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic systems, fuel systems, brake systems, and air conditioning systems, as well as diagnose and repair transmissions. Road tests are performed to identify defects and verify repair work. The technician may also be required to work off-site for repairs and maintain a clean work area while adhering to safety standards. Continuous skill updates and training are expected, along with maintaining effective working relationships and knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
